Ginkgo Biloba
Ginkgo Biloba
Ginkgo Biloba
Other Names:
Maidenhair tree
Nutrition:
Ginkgo Biloba is a good source of nutrients, vitamins and minerals. It has traditionally been used in China for thousands of years to heal an array of illnesses, but is best known today for improving memory.
Health Benefits:
Improves circulation and heart health
Ginkgo seed have been used in traditional Chinese medicine to open ‘channels’ of energy to different organ systems, including kidney, liver, brain and lungs. Its apparent ability to increase blood flow to various parts of the body may be the reason for many of its suggested health benefits.
When supplementing with ginkgo, people with heart disease revealed an immediate increase in blood flow to multiple parts of the body, a study shows. This was credited to a 12% increase in levels of circulating nitric oxide which is responsible for dilating blood vessels.
Improves brain function
Studies have found that this plant has potential benefits in improving cognitive functions, activities of daily living and other aspects of cognition in patients with mild cognitive impairment. As ginkgo improves the blood flow to the brain, it helps to improve memory, concentration and thought processes.
It has also been shown in to increase functional capabilities in those with mild Alzheimer’s when used in conjunction with conventional medicine, as well as significantly reducing a spectrum of symptoms associated with dementia.Could improve Asthma and COPD symptoms
Ginkgo may improve symptoms of asthma and other inflammatory respiratory diseases due to its anti-inflammatory compounds, as it may allow for reduced inflammation of the airways and increased lung capacity. A study has shown people who have used ginkgo extract alongside glucocorticosteroid medication have significantly lower levels of inflammatory compounds than those who received traditional medication alone.
Typical Uses:
We suggest 200mg-400mg of our Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract powder or 1 capsule per day, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.
