What is Magnesium?
Magnesium is an essential mineral that plays an important role in many processes within the body. It plays a part in metabolism, muscle function, the nervous system and the health of bones and teeth. It is also understood to support cognition, sleep, and relaxation.
As the body cannot produce magnesium on its own, it must be obtained through the diet or from supplementation where additional support is needed. Magnesium is naturally found in foods such as legumes, nuts, seeds, wholegrains and leafy green vegetables, with smaller amounts also present in meat and fish. Our "Marine Magnesium" is derived from pure seawater.
Recommended daily intakes vary depending on age, sex and individual circumstances. However, many people may not consistently obtain enough magnesium from their diet alone, particularly if their intake of magnesium-rich foods is low.
Health Benefits
Supports Energy and Muscle Function
Magnesium contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism and normal muscle function, making it an important mineral for those with active lifestyles. It is involved in the body’s ability to use energy efficiently and plays a role in muscle contraction and relaxation.
During physical activity, magnesium is involved in processes that support normal muscle performance. For this reason, it is commonly used by individuals who exercise regularly, as well as those looking to support their daily energy and muscle function.
Supports the Nervous System and Psychological Function
Magnesium contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system and normal psychological function. It is involved in nerve signalling and helps support the body’s natural response to everyday demands.
Maintaining adequate magnesium levels may be particularly important for those with busy lifestyles, periods of increased stress or low dietary intake of magnesium-rich foods.
Contributes to Normal Electrolyte Balance
Magnesium plays a role in electrolyte balance, which is important for hydration, muscle function and overall wellbeing. Electrolytes help regulate fluid balance in the body and support normal nerve and muscle activity.
This makes magnesium a valuable mineral for general health, especially for individuals who are physically active or looking to support their nutritional intake.
Typical Uses:
