What is Sida Acuta?

Sida Acuta is a plant native to Mexico and central America, belonging to the Malvaceae family. It is traditionally used to treat diseases such as fever, headache, skin disease, diarrhoea and dysentery. The plant is considered to have antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant and cytotoxic properties.

Health Benefits:

Immune System support

Due to its anitbacterial and antimicrobial properties, sida acuta could provide effective immune system support. Studies show that antibacterial potential of aqueous and ethanol leave extracts from the plant could have positive effects on people with AIDS or HIV. It has also shown some activity against diseases such as salmonella and E. coli.

May help wounds to heal

The topical administration of sida acuta could promote wound healing. In a study that investigated the effects of methanol extract from sida acuta on wounds in rats, it was found that the application of the plant extract allowed the wounds to heal significantly faster than a control group. It is suggested that this is due to the antioxidant and antibacterial properties of sida acuta.Could support blood sugar levels in diabetics

Extracts from sida acuta – aqueous and methanol – have been studied for their effectiveness on blood sugar levels. One study of normal and diabetic rabbits showed that the extracts were effective in decreasing the blood glucose levels in glucose induced rabbits and also showed anti-diabetic activity in alloxan induced diabetic rabbits. Sida acuta also increased the glucose tolerance of normal rabbits.

Typical Uses:

The appropriate dose of sida acuta depends on several factors such as the user’s age, health, and several other conditions. We suggest taking 0.6-1.8g per day of our Sida Acuta 20:1 Seed Extract. Or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.
