What supplements will you need this Spring?

The clocks have gone forward, the evenings are lighter and the daffodils are blooming.. Dare we say that Spring is here? Now you’re thinking about putting the winter coat away and dusting off the BBQ, you may also be thinking about whether you need all those supplements you were taking to keep the winter bugs at bay and if you should be taking something different now the seasons are changing.

Keep reading to learn about some of the best supplements to take this Spring.

Vitamin D

Most of us know that we need to take a Vitamin D supplement in Winter months due to the lack of sunlight between October and March. So why should we continue to take it in Spring? Well unless you can regularly be out in the sunshine between 11am-3pm with at least your forearms exposed (and with the unpredictable UK weather, this is unlikely), then you probably aren’t getting the vitamin D you need from sunshine alone.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is best known for its ability to shorten the duration of illnesses, which many of us associated with the colder months. However vitamin C is also a natural antihistamine, which could be beneficial to those that suffer with allergies during Spring time. Not only that, but it also enhances collagen production in the skin and helps to protect it from sun damage, although it is worth noting that it is not a suitable replacement for sunscreen.

Quercetin

Quercetin is a powerful antioxidant, with more antioxidant power than vitamin C, vitamin E and Beta-Carotene. Its properties make it a strong anti-inflammatory, which may has positive effects on allergy symptoms.
